We welcome our patients to use our TeleHealth Services. Telehealth is primarily for sick visits, but we can also do visits for med checks, anxiety and depression.
We ask that you call 816-523-0066 before you log on to Telehealth. We will be happy to help you. Questions please call us at 816-523-0066.
In this challenging time we are working hard to stay connected to our
patients. We want you to know that we are here for you, and along with our office visits we are now offering Telehealth visits.
Telehealth is not new. We are now partnered during the current
pandemic with Doxy.me to provide this service exclusively to our
patients. The Telehealth visits will be charged as a regular office visit. Your child must be present physically for the Telehealth visit.
How this is going to Work!
Click Here for our Getting Started Chart for help getting checked in.
Please call our office at 816-523-0066 and if you have a concern we will be
happy to set you up for a Telehealth visit. We will provide you with the
link for your visit.
The Telehealth visits will be during our regular business hours - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
These visits can include, but aren’t limited to: sick visits - pink eye,
stomach aches, sore throats, ear aches, stuffy noses, coughs and other
needs including medication refills, asthma follow ups, anxiety and
After you have been sent the link log into the waiting room.
We may still be with another patient when you first log in, much like in the office. The benefits to you are that you can work on things near your computer while you wait.
We want to emphasize that antibiotics will be prescribed at the providers’ discretion and will follow current recommendations.
If during a TeleHealth visit the provider decides your child needs to be
seen in our office you will be asked to call our office and make an
appointment. Because of insurance reimbursement, the scheduler will help you make an appointment with the provider you had during Telehealth.
Billing and Insurance
Your Telehealth visit will be billed to your insurance. Most insurance
companies cover this cost as a standard office visit. Please contact your insurance company if you have questions about your coverage.
All standard copays and fees contracted with your insurance company apply.
If you have new insurance or payment card information, please let the
scheduler know when you make your first call.
Tips for a good visit:
Your child must be physically present during the visit.
Keep your phone on. If we do not reach you at the number provided you will be removed from the queue and you will need to log back to request another visit.
If the patient is under 18 years old there needs to be a parent or legal
guardian present during the visit.
If a patient is 18 or older, a parent or guardian need not be present.
Have available all of the medications the patient is currently taking.
Have available your child’s current weight.
Know your child’s Immunization status.
Know of any drug allergies the patient has.
Please review the pharmacy you want to use. Be able to provide the name, address and phone number.
We are able to treat multiple family members, however it cannot be
during the same Telehealth visit. Each child needs to be treated in separate visits
with separate logins. Please do not ask the provider advice about a child
that is not logged in for the visit.
Understand that the providers will follow standard of care protocol.
Understand you may not be talking to your primary care provider.
When you are positioning your child for the video do not put the light behind them. The providers will be able to better see the patient if there is ample light and it is shining on them from the front.
Limit background noise. Please have other siblings and pets out of the
Is this secure?
We take security seriously. We have chosen to use Doxy.me, which complies with HIPAA and HITECH requirements. Doxy.me uses state of the art security and encryption protocols to assure that data integrity and privacy is maintained. No recording is made of the visit. It will be documented in the patient chart like any other visit.
Does insurance cover the cost?
The state of Missouri has had a parity law
Why does the video sometimes freeze and what can we do when it happens?
The encrypted video and audio use a lot of bandwidth, so sometimes the video freezes. For this reason we recommend having a phone nearby to use to continue the conversation while the video reloads. There is also a chat box that can be used to communicate by text if there are complications using the audio and video. (This texting alone does NOT meet criteria for the telehealth visit. We must be able to have audio and visual communication to meet criteria.)
Older computer models seem to struggle with this site at times. If you have a newer computer or smartphone, it may be the better choice for this visit.
Baby and Child Associates will remain open during this National crisis of COVID 19. We have instituted some changes in our clinic in response to COVID 19 to help us continue to treat both well and sick children. We are asking that only well children be seen during the morning hours of 9 AM – 2:30 PM. This will allow parents to feel comfortable bringing their children in for their well child examinations and immunizations. We will be seeing sick patients daily from 3 PM – 5 PM. Please call for an appointment time.
